IELTS Listening Test

The Listening test lasts roughly 30 minutes.

There's an additional 10 minutes for transferring answers if taken on paper.

There are 40 questions in 2 Sections of 10. Each are a little different...

Section 1

A social conversation between two speakers.

Expect to have to spell names and identify correct numbers.

Section 2

A monologue (one person speaking) in a familiar context.

This is often a tour guide or someone describing a place.

Expect MCQs and a map.

Section 3

An academic conversation usually between a tutor and 1 or 2 students.

Expect it to have a university or other academic setting.

Section 4

An academic monologue, usually a lecture on a specific topic.

Expect more challenging vocabulary and no break between questions!

These are just some small pieces of advice to follow.

IELTS Listening is unlike 'normal' listening. It is a skill, the more you practice, the better you will get!

Practice makes Perfect!
